My theme was sunflowers and pumpkins," said Amy Marquis, who married Jason at the Alvirne Chapel in Hudson in October. The Marquises' entire wedding was fall themed, and the sunflower and pumpkin decorations were added to the otherwise traditional three-tier cake, made by Frederick's Pastries in Amherst. Even the couple's cake set was decorated with fall leaves, and their cake table was embellished with Lindt pumpkin truffles for added flair and an additional option for their sweet-toothed guests.

In addition to couples adding color and various personal touches to the traditional wedding cake, brides and grooms are also becoming more creative when it comes to their cakes' flavors.

"(Our cake) was strawberry, vanilla bean and almond," Marquis said.
